9 States –Candidate to legalize online gaming

First, it should be mentioned that the probability that at least one of these states will pass the legislation allowing online gambling in the coming years, is extremely small, nevertheless, it is possible that during the second or third wave of online gambling expansion it will be legalized in these areas.

In all of these states, there are the necessary conditions for the development of online industry, but they have not yet made a decision whether they want it or not.

Here are four part series that will embrace the state of iGaming in all the US states, including:

1. The seven states where online gaming is legal or approval is imminent

2. The eight states currently thought to be considering online gaming expansion

9 States –Candidate to legalize online gaming

3. The motives why 9 states may think about expanding online gaming in future

4. The motives why 26 states will hardly ever pass online gaming legislation.

Colorado has already considered this question in 2012, when the Gambling Commission staff suggested the related bill. As recently as last year, they worked on the second bill, but it he has not been submitted. The former Attorney General of Colorado John Suthers made a formal statement, noting that for this aim it is necessary to rewrite the Constitution of the State.

Two Connecticut casinos, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, will have serious rivals in the face of institutions of Massachusetts and New York. If they are going to survive, iGaming may be just what the Dr. ordered. But the legislators and two tribes, controlling the gaming industry have the plans of their own.

Iowa has previously addressed the issue of legalization of online gaming (in 2012 and 2013). Taking as a basis discussions of 2012 and 2013, the state legislature tried to legalize Daily Fantasy Sports in Iowa, and in this case, there has been some progress.

Maryland has the prerequisites, which gives the chances to legalize Internet gambling:

1. A developed industry of land-based casinos.

2. About 6 million of people with the highest average of income in the US.

3. A supporting lottery director in Steve Martino.

Oregon is among the 4 states that might add some options to introduce sports betting, although the question of online gambling coming to Oregon hasn’t been discussed yet.

Rhode Island is not very interested in this now, as it is trying to turn the Twin Rivers Casino into a luxury resort-casino, as it received an addition of a hotel.

At the beginning of 2015, Virginia addressed the issue of online lotteries, but the bill eventually died.

In 2015, Washington had to consider the bill on online gambling thanks to the tireless efforts of Curtis Woodard.

Nevertheless, the bill ultimately left for dead in the legislature.

As long as the state governor Scott Walker is performing his duties, it is extremely unlikely that Wisconsin will develop online gaming industry.
