New gambling regulations in Mississippi and Washington
Two of the US States decided to legalize online gambling on their territories. The new bills to make online gambling legal were introduced in Mississippi and Washington states of the USA.
Online poker in the state of Washington
Online poker was prohibited in the State of Washington by the law of 2006, although the poker fans could play their favorite game in any licensed land-based casino or poker room. “For a very long time the officials of the state were strictly against this online entertainment,” Curtis Woodward of the Washington iPoker initiative told. “Why does the government allow the players to visit Tribal casinos and card rooms, but blame us in some crimes if we prefer playing in our private apartments in front of our computers? Isn’t it stupid and what is more important-rather inoperative? Those who really want to play online, use some shallow offshore sites of some other country and play without any protection. But if online poker becomes legal in the state of Washington under the supervision of the legislation and Gambling Commission, these offshore operators will have to leave the market, and the money spent will remain in the state.”
Mississippi’s new bill
Representative Bobby Moak, who has unsuccessfully tried to impose the bill legalizing online gambling for the last three years, made a new attempt last week. This bill is famous as the Mississippi Lawful Internet Gaming Act Of 2015. According to this act Mississippi will make an agreement with other jurisdictions to share player liquidity comprising other states, tribal governments and foreign countries. The act directly stresses the problem of different offshore operators that impede the legal operators and confers that government will do everything possible to block such sites. The individuals that offer illegal gaming entertainments will get 10-year imprisonment and up to $100 thousand in fines. The companies will have up to $250 thousand in fines.
